2 cups flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 cup brown sugar 1 cup granulated sugar 2 Tblsp. cocoa powder (divided) 1 to 1 1/2 cups M&Ms (ANY colors are great!)
Mix flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt in a bowl and stir well. Pour half of the flour mixture into a clean quart-sized mason jar and pack down well. Add 1/4 cup brown sugar to the jar and pack down. Mix remaining amount of flour with 1 TBsp. cocoa and add to jar, too. Pour half of the granulated sugar into jar. Combine the leftover amount of sugar with the remaining cocoa. Add this to the jar, too. Remember to pack down well between layers. Fill the jar to the top with M&Ms candies. Holiday colors work beautifully for this with a coordinating circle of fabric and ribbon or raffia to finish off the jar.
Attach following recipe card to the jar:
M&M Cookies Empty cookie mix into a large mixing bowl and stir to combine. Add 1/2 cup of softened butter or margarine, 1 slightly beaten egg and 1 tsp. vanilla. Mix until blended well. Roll dough into walnut-sized balls and place 2 inches apart onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees F for 12/14 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool 5 minutes on sheet and then move to racks to cool completely.

MINT M&Ms are here!!
Not sure how long they'll be available - but right now you can find MINT flavored M&Ms in the stores (found them here in Illinois at CVS pharmacy and also at Wal-Mart). The jar on the left contains MINT M&M cookie mix. The recipe is the same as above with a little twist: leave out the cocoa powder. Instead, pour about half of the granulated sugar into the mason jar, then mix the remaining sugar with some green sugar crystals (or powdered green food coloring). This is just for looks - doesn't change the flavor. Add the "green" sugar to the jar, then the flour mixture (see photo on the left). Pack the ingredients and fill the jar with MINT M&Ms to the top. Mmmm, mmmm, good!
