So easy to create and yet so incredibly special: hot chocolate mix packaged to resemble an
ice cream cone. Yummy for your eyes, too. You'll need cone shaped cellophane or plastic bags for this project. The Wilton cake
decorating bags work for this, but they are pretty pricey. I've found great prices and speedy (and inexpensive) delivery through ebay merchants!
Check ebay and search for "cone cello bag" - you should find quite a few listings. The size I
used was 6 x 12 inches - finished size equal to a "real" ice cream cone. Recipe for the chocolate mix is the same as for Snowman Soup (or use your own most favorite recipe or store-bought mix). You'll need 2/3 cup of mix per cone. The topping consists of a handful of mini marshmallows and mini chocolate chips, semi
sweet. But if you would like to add different flavors, go right ahead. No limits to your
creativity. Pour 2/3 cup of chocolate mix into a cello bag, making sure the mix fits nicely all the way
into the tip of the bag. Use a twist tie to close the cone tightly above the cocoa mix and snip
the top of the bag about 1/4 to 1/2 inch above the twist tie - you'll double the cones for
safety and also to keep the cocoa mix separated from the toppings. Slip the filled cone into a second bag, making sure to match the seams on the sides - this is
just for looks but makes for a nicer presentation. Add about 1/3 cup of mini-marshmallows
to cover the top and tie of the cocoa mix baggie. Then top with 1 Tbsp. mini chocolate
morsels. Arrange to resemble the top of an ice cream cone. Then tie the Hot Cream Cone
with a twist tie and decorate with a bit of fabric or curling ribbon.
Attach a tag with instructions when tying the ribbon: - Hot Cream Cone - Hot Chocolate Mix for 2 divide mix into 2 mugs - add boiling water, stir; top with marshmallows and chocolate if desired. Enjoy!!
